The filmmaker has shared what he calls an "old-school contact ad"

We're all just looking for love, and provocative Danish director Lars von Trier is no different. He has now taken to social media to put out an open call for a "female girlfriend slash muse."

In a video posted on Instagram, the 67-year-old filmmaker shared what he described as an "old-school contact ad." Speaking in Danish (which is translated into English in the subtitles), he made no secret of his personal struggles, saying, "I have Parkinson's disease, ODC and an at-the-moment-controlled alcoholism."

All that being said, he promised, "On a good day, in the right company, I can be quite a charming partner." He said, "With some luck, I should have a few decent films left in me." Perhaps, then, his lucky female girlfriend slash muse could inspire them!

Anyone interested in becoming the filmmaker's female girlfriend slash muse can send a message to his email address, which he helpfully shares at the end of the video and definitely won't attract any spam messages. Watch the clip below.

It's worth pointing out that von Trier has faced accusations of sexual harassment and on-set psychological abuse. Björk said in 2017 that she had been sexually harassed by a director she worked with; this was later revealed to be von Trier, who denied the accusations. He is famously difficult to work with, and many of the women who have acted in his films have spoken about how hard he pushed them. He also said that he "understands Hitler" and called himself "a Nazi" at a Melancholia press conference in 2011, resulting in him being banned from Cannes Film Festival for seven years.
