Kevin Smith's 'Mallrats' Sequel Finally Has a Script

We learned earlier this year that Kevin Smith was finally working on a Mallrats sequel, and now, the director is taking steps to fulfill his promise by completing the movie's official script.

Earlier this week, Smith recorded an episode of his members-only Silent Bob Speaks! podcast dedicated entirely to the forthcoming sequel, and posted a screenshot of the first draft of the follow-up, titled Twilight of the Mallrats.

"I finally finished a funny first draft of 'TWILIGHT OF THE MALLRATS,'" Smith wrote in the post. "25 years after the original, Brodie Bruce will be back for an unnecessary sequel set against the Mallpocalypse!"

Based on the characters Smith mentioned in the announcement, the 98-page script will likely see the return of Shannen Doherty, Jason Lee, Jason Mewes, Ethan Suplee, Joey Lauren Adams, Claire Forlani, Jeremy London, Renée Humphrey and Sven-Ole Thorson, reprising their roles in the sequel.

Additionally, the director announced that he'll begin work on new scripts for Moose Jaws and Clerks 3 now that he's finished with the 'rats.

Rene, Willam, Gwen, Brandy, T.S., Trish, Mr. Svenning, LaFours and the rebooted @jayandsilentbob are the returning 'Rats in an Askewniverse imagining about what happens when the sidewalk sales end, and "happily ever after" is easier to say than live! The #jayandsilentbob stuff is some of my favorite conceptual comedy I've ever written but the whole script is silly, sentimental and sweet. And at 98 pages, the story moves like a brakeless bullet train!
