Earlier this year, Toronto's infamous late mayor Rob Ford was briefly explored in the film Run This Town. Now, his legacy will be further dismantled in a new limited television series, and producers have found the perfect goofy actor to play him in one Jim Gaffigan.

The comedian will star in a new, as-yet-untitled series for AMC. The scripted show will be executive produced and directed by Michael Dowse (GoonFubar).

The show is described as a dark comedy (closely resembling the real-life story on which it's based, then) and will detail Ford's rise and fall including his myriad scandals over the years.

In addition to Gaffigan and Dowse, the other big name attached to the series is Ed Helms, who will executive produce with Mike Falbo under their Pacific Electric Picture Co. banner. The show is being written by Letterkenny scribe Jesse McKeown (who is, like everyone else, also executive producing).

Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
