A Nevada sheriff's office incident report obtained by CNN has revealed new details about Jeremy Renner's tragic snowplow accident.

The horrifying incident, which left the actor in critical but stable condition, took place on New Year's Day. According to Washoe County Sheriff's Office, Renner was trying to stop his Pistenbully snow-removal tractor from sliding and hitting his grown nephew after having towed his stuck truck off of the driveway when the Avengers star got pulled underneath the snowcat.

After towing his nephew's truck to the street, the snowplow began to slide sideways before starting to roll down the hill, at which point Renner jumped out of the snowcat, he told investigators. Then, he realized it was heading straight toward his nephew — and to divert its path, he had to climb onto the machine's moving track to re-enter the cab, and was immediately pulled under the left side track.

"The Pistenbully snow groomer began sliding causing Renner to exit the vehicle without setting the emergency brake," the conclusion of the report reads. "Although the Pistenbully had some mechanical issues, it is believed based on our mechanical inspection that the parking brake would keep the Pistenbully from moving forward. When Renner attempted to stop or divert the Pistenbully to avoid injury to (his nephew), he was pulled under the vehicle by the track and run over."

Further, the report notes that the brake indicator light within the snowplow's cab wasn't working, and thus "mechanical issues may have been a factor" in the accident.

His nephew was unable to help Renner until first responders arrived on the scene, after which the actor was airlifted to hospital — where he remained for over two weeks and underwent at least two surgeries before being released.

In an Instagram post over the weekend, Renner revealed that he had broken over 30 bones. See that below.
