James Dean's 'Rebel Without a Cause' Jacket Goes Up for Auction

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Feb 27, 2018

James Dean was the definition of "cool" in Rebel Without a Cause, and now the iconic jacket worn by the heartthrob in the film is up for sale.

The bright red bomber jacket (collar popped, of course) will go on auction this week at Palm Beach Modern Auctions in Florida.

According to the item's official listing, the garment is in "very good" condition, save for "some staining and cigarette burns."

The auction house owners expect the Hollywood artefact to fetch between $400,000 and $600,000 USD.

Because Dean died so young, memorabilia directly linked to the actor has been rather scarce. He died in a car crash in 1955 at the age of 24, just weeks before Rebel Without a Cause premiered.
