Here's Your First Look at the 'Dexter' Revival

Michael C. Hall returns to narrate the series' first new teaser

Seven long years since the unsatisfying finale of Clyde Phillips' Dexter, the series starring Michael C. Hall is finally getting a chance to redeem itself with a new batch of episodes. Today, showrunners are giving us our first look at the forthcoming revival with an ominous new clip narrated by Hall himself.

Stepping back into his role as the legendary killer Dexter Morgan, Hall says, "There really is nothing like getting back to nature," dubbed over a shot of an axe stuck in a tree stump. He continues: "My nature."

The teaser is a nod to the original series finale, in which the titular Dexter is seen working as a trucker in logging country, leading us to believe the new season will pick up where we left off in Season 8 — contrary to Phillips' suggestion that the new 10-episode order will essentially set to "start from scratch" and will "not be Dexter Season 9."

"I'm excited to step back into it," Hall previously said about the revival. "I've never had that experience of playing a character this many years on."

Hall's Dexter is expected to return to Showtime this fall. The original series ran from 2006 to 2013.
