If you've already exhausted the content from all of the major streaming services, it's time to check out Canada's own CBC Gem — it's free, so you might as well, right?
The August 2023 lineup doesn't contain any shows looking to rival Schitt's Creek or Kim's Convenience as Canada's next big export, but there is an A24 co-produced British series called Dreaming Whilst Black, written by and starring BAFTA winner Adjani Salmon.
As for Canadian content, the service will offer the documentaries The Colour of Ink (about an inkmaker) and Coextinction (about saving southern resident orcas from extinction). Richard III is a filmed version of the Stratford Festival's stage play, and Paul Simon speaks with Tom Power on Q. Freeup! Emancipation Day, about slavery's abolition from the British Empire, features performances from DijahSB, Kaia Kater and more.
See the lineup below, and check out the schedules for Netflix, Disney+, Paramount+ and Prime Video as well.
