Last summer, we first heard rumblings that HBO's beloved Deadwood series was being resurrected for a new movie. As it turns out, the rumours were true — HBO has just confirmed that the film is in the works.
Speaking with TVLine, HBO boss man Michael Lombardo confirmed that the show's creator David Milch is bringing it back in the form of a new movie.
"David has our commitment that we are going to do it," Lombardo said. "He pitched what he thought generally the storyline would be — and knowing David, that could change. But it's going to happen."
Lombardo added that he felt Milch had "something left unsaid" from the series. "I've known him for a while and it feels like it's something he's not done talking about," he said.
Milch is currently wrapping up a different project, at which point he'll write the script for the Deadwood movie.
