Fairy Tales Queer Film Festival Details 2021 Online Edition

The event runs May 21 to 30

The 23rd edition of Fairy Tales Queer Film Festival, Canada's third-largest 2SLGBTQ+ film festival, runs May 21 to 30 via Xerb.tv. Presented by the Calgary Queer Arts Society, this year's festival lineup includes 42 films from 13 countries, as well as 9 local artists.

A press release from FTQFF notes: "Perspective means a way of regarding situations, topics, people, sensations. Its Latin root means 'to look through' or 'to perceive.' For ten days, these filmmakers will expose you to their perspectives. You will see queerness through the eyes of another, and no two people will see the same film."

Some highlights of the festival include: May 22's Don Filipo with Silent Heat (a campy, fantastic horror  about a couple on vacation), May 25's Gender Euphoria Shorts Package (seven short films about self-expression), May 27's Reverse Racism Cabaret (with a panel discussion and exclusive performances, hosted by drag artist DeVery Bess) May 29's A Worm in the Heart and The Uninhabitable Ones (a double-feature documenting the Russian 2SLGBTQ+ community and a Brazilian contemporary dance company's expression of Black homosexuality).

Tickets are $9.99 for a single film, $24.99 for a 3-film pass, or $99.99 for an all-access pass. Discounted prices are available for seniors, CQAS members, artists, students, CJSW members, and essential workers. Tickets and more information are available here.
