Donald Glover has released a brief teaser for the mysterious and much-anticipated third season of Atlanta, and took some shots at Lil' Dicky in the process.
Last night on Twitter, Glover shared a link to a website called Gilga.com. The minimalist site is a self-proclaimed "nite-site" and is only operational between the hours of 8 p.m. and 3 a.m., as it's currently "under construction."
You won't see anything if you visit outside of designated hours, but last night the site featured a minute-long Atlanta teaser, set to Sun Ra's 1970 track "It's After the End of the World." It's a genuine teaser, with very little in the way of concrete information, and is essentially just a patient zoom in on Brian Tyree Henry's Paper Boi, who looks to be involved in some sort of cult.
Thankfully, someone out there had the bright idea to rip the teaser and upload it to YouTube, so you can watch it below no matter the hour.
Glover also took this opportunity to rag a bit on Lil Dicky's Dave, another stylish TV show from another comedian/rapper. People like Dave — it's currently FX's most-watched comedy ever — and the show does seem heavily inspired by Atlanta's whole thing. However, it seems like Glover doesn't necessarily appreciate the comparisons, and in a series of now-deleted tweets, he wrote:
and for the record, im watching yall sayin 'dave' is on par. like yall forgot what we did. no disrespect.
we got black people on here debating which is better, and IM the sellout?
The new season of Atlanta is arriving sometime early next year.
