Former That '70s Show actor Danny Masterson is reportedly being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department over allegations that he sexually assaulted three different women.
In a statement made to The Hollywood Reporter, the LAPD confirmed that they are investigating Masterson. "Three women have come forward and disclosed that they were sexually assaulted by Masterson during the early 2000s," they said.
Masterson, who is currently married to model Bijou Phillips, vehemently denied the accusations. Speaking through his representatives, he claims that the allegations are part of a smear campaign against the Church of Scientology, of which he is a member.
One of the women Masterson allegedly assaulted recently opened up about the abuse in an episode of Leah Remini's reality show Scientology and the Aftermath. The episode suggested that the church was covering up multiple rape claims on behalf of its followers. Masterson claims the two other women were influenced by the series to make their own allegations against him.
A representative for Masterson told TMZ, "The alleged incident occurred in the middle of their 6 year relationship, after which she continued to be his longtime girlfriend." He added that the woman allegedly pursued him after their relationship ended.
