Californication Season 4

After a long hiatus, America's favourite fuck-up, Hank Moody (David Duchovny), is back with many age-inappropriate conquests in the fourth season of the raunchy Showtime sitcom, Californication. This season, viewers get to witness the philandering, self-medicating writer battle a statutory rape trial while also trying to win the hearts of his long-time baby mama, Karen (Natascha McElhone), and his jaded daughter, Becca (Madeline Martin), in between his sexual escapades with lady lawyers, barely legal starlets and their mothers. Moody has always been a character fans have struggled between loving and loathing. However, unless you're a male with a life-long subscription to Maxim, fans will find it hard to excuse Hank's many indiscretions, man-child persona and his questionable ability to seduce every woman he crosses paths with this time round. Aside from the always-welcome foulmouthed waxologist. Marcy (Pamela Adlon), and Rob Lowe's hilarious portrayal of actor Eddie Nero (who many will think is a parody of Tom Cruise), no character is likable, no matter what outlandishly funny line of dialogue comes out of their mouths. However, if you are a loyal fan of the show, there are still plenty of guilty, deplorable pleasures to enjoy. Some of these memorable moments include defecation on a car, death by erotic asphyxiation, a bloody "manscaping" incident and a dinner party ending with a pregnant Marcy beating up a psychotic woman. Despite the fact that Californication will never bore viewers, watching hedonistic L.A. douchebags become shallower, more irritating increasingly revolting every episode is enough to make anyone throw in the towel. How United States of Tara got cancelled and this second-rate replacement to Entourage is still airing is a mystery. The DVD features include the first two episodes of Showtime's Gigolos.
