Horror is hotter than ever, meaning classic franchises are being rebooted and revamped all over the place. The next character to get another chance in the limelight is Ghostface, the masked terror from the popular meta franchise Scream. In fact, a new film in the series is now officially in development.
The film will be the first entry into the series since writer and director Wes Craven passed away in 2015.
According to Bloody Disgusting, Spyglass Media is currently developing a new Scream film. As of now, it's unclear if the film will be a sequel to 2011's solid Scream 4, or if it will be a continuation of the Scream spinoff series, or if it will even attempt to reboot the franchise.
What we do know is that Kevin Williamson, the writer who helped create the Scream franchise with Craven, is not yet involved with the current project, meaning this could take some sort of new look at the series.
Stay tuned for more details as they become available.
