Just in time for its 20th anniversary, Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis's Freaky Friday reboot is getting a sequel.
UPDATE (3/5, 12:03 p.m. ET): In a new interview with People, Lohan confirmed that the sequel is "in the [sic] process."
Although she was unable to say when filming would begin or even if there was a completed script, the actor expressed her anticipation to reunite with Curtis, saying she's "just excited to work with Jamie again and see how much further we can take it."
"Because we talk almost every other day in general, so I think we're going to have a lot of fun with this," Lohan added.
Speaking with The New York Times about their iconic movie, the pair let it slip that Disney has started development on Freaky Friday 2, all thanks to a phone call from Curtis herself.
"As I went around the world with Halloween Ends, people wanted to know if there was going to be another Freaky Friday," Curtis said. "Something really touched a chord. When I came back, I called my friends at Disney and said, 'It feels like there's a movie to be made.'"
Lohan added, "Jamie and I are both open to that, so we're leaving it in the hands that be. We would only make something that people would absolutely adore."
Lohan and Curtis both remember the filming of Freaky Friday fondly, even revealing their inside joke about a certain Justin Timberlake track.
"My strongest memory is the scene where the two of us are in the car eating french fries," Curtis reminisced. "Now, if I get a text out of the blue, 'Hey, Jamie, it's Linds,' I say, 'Prove it. What was the song we were trying to learn the rap to during Freaky Friday?' If she answers Justin Timberlake's 'Like I Love You,' then I know it's Lindsay Lohan."
Hopefully, this means we get all of the original members of Pink Slip back for the occasion, too. "Take Me Away" is a banger, and you can't convince us otherwise.
