Steve-O Taped Himself to a Billboard for His New Comedy Special

The Los Angeles Fire Department had to remove him

During his time with the Jackass crew, Steve-O has snorted wasabi, bungee jumped inside a porta potty, been used as human bait and much more. While taping himself to a billboard may same tame by comparison, it doesn't make his latest stunt any less hilarious.

In support of new comedy special Gnarly, the Jackass star braved a new frontier in marketing by affixing himself to a Hollywood billboard with black tape earlier today. Taped by his torso while a platform held his feet, his self-rigging allowed him to snap a few photos for Instagram.

"I'm attached to a billboard right now...and want to emphasize that a team of real professionals rigged everything safely," he wrote in posting his whereabouts. "There is zero chance of me falling, and it's important to me that we not waste any valuable city resources on this. I'm happy to just hang out, and really want the world to know about this project I worked so hard on. It's called Gnarly and, If you're over 18, check it out at steveo.com! Thanks!"

Steve-O would soon give live updates from the skyline through his Instagram Story, telling followers that police had shown up to monitor the situation. "They say they're not sure that I'm committing any crimes," he said. "I don't think so. I paid for the billboard, man!"

It wasn't long before the Los Angeles Fire Department showed up to safely remove the human brand. Their incident report reads, "an apparent single patient behavioral emergency, one person secured (themselves?) to a billboard. No escalating or off-site hazard known."
Gnarly, available to stream now through Steve-O's website, is said to be "a very naughty multimedia special" combining stand-up and stunts filmed alongside his Jackass crewmates.

Late last year, it was announced that Jackass 3-D — a film we named one of the best of the 2010s — will be getting a sequel in 2021.
