Disgraced comedian Louis C.K. has been trying to mount a comeback after admitting to sexual misconduct. Now, his dubious comeback tour is taking him to Toronto, where he is scheduled to perform seven shows over five nights at Yuk Yuk's.
The residency is scheduled for October 2 to 6. An email from the venue has deemed the residency "The comedy event of the year!" and "XXX-Rated."
The announcement includes C.K.'s infamous paragraph of legalese prohibiting audience members from quoting his work. Additionally, the shows have been deemed a "phone-free experience," with all audience members being forced to place their phones in secure cases to prohibit them from being used during the show.
According to the email, "Recording of any kind, including note taking, is not permitting [sic] in the show room. You will be asked to leave."
In November 2017, the New York Times published sexual misconduct accusations from five women against C.K., which he admitted to the following day. In the years since, he has performed numerous comeback shows, which have been met with divided reactions. C.K. has also been criticized for his new material, which has included jokes mocking sexual assault, non-binary people and school shooting survivors.
