Schitt's Creek co-creators Dan and Eugene Levy — the father-son duo whose eyebrow genes alone have achieve national-treasure status — are staying booked and busy: each is slated to perform hosting duties on new usncripted shows for HBO Max and Apple TV+.
The eldest Levy will be the face of The Reluctant Traveler, which will explore extraordinary hotels alongside their cultural and historical contexts. He'll also serve as the Apple TV+ show's executive producer, though an anticipated release date has yet to be announced.
Meanwhile, his son will work with HBO Max on a cooking competition series of his own creation. Titled The Big Brunch, it will give "undiscovered culinary voices" from the US the chance to share their business dreams and life stories — and compete for a "life-altering" prize.
Of the series scheduled to premiere in 2022, the younger Levy said in a statement:
Everybody has a friend, a family member or a co-worker that is extraordinary at what they do, they just need a leg up so that their talents can be appreciated on a larger scale. Thanks to an almost obsessive love of food, I've been lucky enough to come across many of those people in the culinary world — friends working out of cafes or food trucks, revolutionizing the menus at local diners; those special humans who create communities around their cooking, hoping to take their skills to the next level. I created this show for them — the local culinary heroes of America who deserve a spotlight. That, and who doesn't want to watch maple syrup being poured slowly over a golden stack of perfectly cooked, creme brûlée inspired French toast?
Okay, we certainly would not object — "Ew, David!" — to that.
Dan has already inked a TV and film development deal with Netflix, as well as signed on to co-write and star in an animated series for Hulu; it's safe to say he's cornering the market on the streaming giants. (Speaking of, hopefully The Big Brunch will also be streaming on Crave for his Canadian fans).
This dynamic father-son pair also recently teamed up to release the Schitt's Creek book Best Wishes, Warmest Regards. Their fellow Schitt's alum Noah Reid will make his Broadway debut next spring as the replacement for Armie Hammer in The Minutes.
