Leslie Jordan — comedian, actor, singer and writer — has died at the age of 67 following a car crash in Los Angeles.

TMZ reports that Jordan had suffered an apparent medical emergency, crashing his BMW into the side of a building in Hollywood.

"The world is definitely a much darker place today without the love and light of Leslie Jordan," Jordan's agent David Shaul said in a statement [via Variety]. "Not only was he a mega talent and joy to work with, but he provided an emotional sanctuary to the nation at one of its most difficult times. What he lacked in height he made up for in generosity and greatness as a son, brother, artist, comedian, partner and human being. Knowing that he has left the world at the height of both his professional and personal life is the only solace one can have today."

Born in 1955 in Chattanooga, TN, Jordan was known for his diminutive stature — standing at just 4'11" — and his exuberant comedic delivery, which earned him numerous television credits including roles in Ugly Betty, American Horror Story, Will & Grace and Boston Public, as well as dozens of films, with his earliest credits dating back to the 1980s.

Off-screen, Jordan was an accomplished stage actor and writer, penning and starring in autobiographical stage show Hysterical Blindness and Other Southern Tragedies That Have Plagued My Life Thus Far, in addition to writing How Y'all Doing?: Misadventures and Mischief from a Life Well Lived, My Trip Down the Pink Carpet and Lost in the Pershing Point Hotel. He also had roles in Southern Baptist Sissies and the off-Broadway musical Lucky Guy

In 2021, Jordan released his debut album Company's Comin', which saw him recording gospel music duets with the likes of Dolly Parton, Chris Stapleton, Tanya Tucker, Brandi Carlisle and more.

Jordan was a beloved personality over the course of the coronavirus pandemic, keeping his nearly six million followers entertained on Instagram, where he would post skits and stories and share comedic anecdotes. See some of his recent posts below.
