The lovably lewd foods of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's Sausage Party will return to screens next year in a new animated series.
Sausage Party: Foodtopia, expected to arrive via Amazon Prime Video in 2024, will feature returning cast members Kristen Wiig, Michael Cera, David Krumholtz, Edward Norton and Rogen, according to a report from Variety.
New stars set to join the series, which is currently in production, include Will Forte, Sam Richardson, Natasha Rothwell and Yassir Lester.
At present, it's unclear whether Sausage Party: Foodtopia will serve as a sequel or prequel to the 2016 film, which was directed by Greg Tiernan and Conrad Vernon.
"Film used to be the superior art form to television, and we humbly reached the pinnacle of what can be achieved with film in our remarkable opus, Sausage Party," said Rogen and Goldberg in a statement [via Variety]. "But now that film is completely dead and TV is the forever-king of entertainment, we've decided to continue the epic adventures of our culinary crew in the soon-to-be-legendary televised masterpiece Sausage Party: Foodtopia. It's got all the heart, double the puns, and triple the food-on-food sex. In other words, it's exactly what the world needs right now."

To get the R-rated film past censors, Rogen was reportedly asked to remove pubic hair from a pita bread character, while a more unfunny moment surrounding the project saw Sausage Party animators allege mistreatment and uncredited work.
