Zombi's A.E. Paterra and Film Composer Paul Lawler Join Forces as Contact

Given the current popularity of vintage, synth-based soundtracks, it's possible that the new duo Contact will come out of the gate with a built in fan-base.

Composed of Zombi member A.E. Paterra (also known as Majeure) and British film composer Paul Lawler, the duo have not even met each other yet. That said, working together online, they recorded their aptly titled First Contact LP and signed with Temporary Residence Ltd.

The four-song LP will instantly appeal to fans of previous Zombi work, though a press release promises that Lawler "infuses heavy doses of melody and drama." The resulting LP is said to combine late-'70s Pink Floyd with the sounds of '80s science documentaries and John Carpenter films. In other words, it's a synth nerd's waking wet dream.

First Contact will arrive on October 28 via Temporary Residence, just in time for Halloween. Until then, the album's triumphant title track can be streamed in full below.

First Contact:

1. First Contact
2. Terminal Point
3. Distant Voices
4. Icefall
