Yuck Frontman Daniel Blumberg Readies Solo Set as Oupa

English '90s rock revivalists Yuck may have just issued their self-titled debut disc a couple of weeks ago, and the band are set to start a tour with Tame Impala this spring, but apparently some of the group's members feel their plates aren't quite full just yet. Frontman Daniel Blumberg has announced a solo set of his own under the nom de plume Oupa.

A press release explains the singer will be releasing a seven-song LP titled Forget on June 7 on an as-of-yet undetermined label. Last summer, Blumberg's previous side-venture, the cheekily named Yu(c)k, released the cassette-only Weakened, which specialized in "sombre, heartbreaking" tunes that differed from the sometime jangly, sometimes fuzzed-out nature of Yuck.

The "haunting fragility" of the new Oupa project is poised to follow up in Yu(c)k's footsteps with "utterly spellbinding songs with a specific, direct hotline to the heart." You can get a taste of what's to come via the title track, which you can stream below. A full tracklisting has yet to appear.

On top of his Yuck schedule (which you can see here), Blumberg will be trotting out Oupa for some select dates.
