When you think about Demi Lovato's hits, which of them do you think should be played for people with cardiovascular issues? If you sarcastically answered "Heart Attack," you're actually right!
After performing the track at the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women Red Dress Collection Concert, the pop star has been getting clowned on TikTok for the choice. The issue gets even more palpitating once you consider the audience was mostly women who've survived heart attacks.
Apparently, some people in the crowd took this the wrong way, according to an insider who spoke with Us Weekly [via Aol]. "There was a video package played before the fashion show and concert where the women all shared their brushes with death via heart attack, how they were all saved during a heart attack — one has a pacemaker for the rest of her life. Demi was smiling the entire performance, and it was really tone-deaf," they shared.
That said, the performance itself was supposedly prefaced with an explanation as to why Lovato chose the song. "She did open with a beautiful intro on why she chose the song and addressed the room, talking about the mind and heart connection. It was actually a beautiful moment," a representative for the singer told Entertainment Weekly.
To be fair, it could have been worse! Lovato could have also sung "Give Your Heart a Break." See footage of the controversial performance below.
