Still kicking after 13 years behind the mics, monitors and traps, Yo La Tengo started off sweetly with a semi-acoustic "Our Way to Fall" before deploying their Velvet Underground artillery, with singer/guitarist Ira Kaplan totally torturing his instrument, or perhaps having J.G. Ballard-inspired sex with it. Shifting over to shades of classic pop and old time R&B, with drummer Georgia Hubley singing some lead, they played new songs ("Avalon or Someone Very Similar" among them) and older tunes such as "Autumn Sweater." These indie rock vets certainly sound excellent, but like so many of their '90s peers, they exhibit zero charisma.
