Much of America has been reeling in horror following the tragic killing spree at University of California, Santa Barbara, on May 23. It seems, however, that singer Exene Cervenka of legendary punk group X may be taking a rather different perspective of the incident.
On her (apparently legitimate) Twitter account, Cervenka has posted links to videos purporting that the recent Santa Barbara shootings were staged as a lobby for gun control. When posting one of these clips, she wrote, "sick of these hoaxes."
Since last year, Cervenka has posted a series of YouTube videos under the name Christine Notmyrealname (her real name is Christine Cervenka), in which she presents herself as a "Conspiracy Therapist." These are at least partly satirical, but they touch on some, uh, colourful points to say the least.
Also on her YouTube account, she has linked to videos that touch on everything from the Sandy Hook shootings to the Boston bombings to Reptilian conspiracy theories.
Since she's simply linking to the videos, it's tough to tell exactly what her perspective is on all of these issues. We won't put any words into her mouth, but there's plenty of material on Twitter and YouTube to peruse, should you be so inclined.
Meanwhile, X is going to be performing four albums in full this July in Los Angeles.
