Wooden Shjips Offshoot Moon Duo Sign with Woodsist, Prep Full-Length for February

Droning psych rockers Wooden Shjips haven't been lacking in interesting releases as of late, as their recent Dos full-length spread some pretty sweet vintage jams in 2009. Nonetheless, guitarist Erik "Ripley" Johnson has managed to find time for a side-project, teaming with Sanae Yamada to form Moon Duo.

The band have already put out two EPs in 2009: Love on the Sea and the must-have Killing Time. Now, they've announced that their debut full-length will be getting released in early 2010 via Woodsist. Called Escape, the record continues their experimental bent, which, according to a press release, "counts such variant groups as Silver Apples, Royal Trux, Moolah, Suicide, and Cluster as touchstones." And with the full-length only being made up of four tracks, Moon Duo are clearly keeping with their long-and-winding approach, which has so far unloaded some downright heady, repetition-loving Kraut jams.

Moon Duo will release Escape on February 12.

Escape:

1. "Motorcycle, I Love You"
2. "In the Trees"
3. "Stumbling 22nd Street"
4. "Escape"
