It's been a long time coming, but indie supergroup Wild Flag have finally announced their full-length debut. Made up of ex-members of Sleater-Kinney, the Minders and Helium, the band announced their formation way back in September of last year and played a few gigs around then, but it wasn't until Record Store Day (April 16) that a two-song seven-inch gave us a taste of the troupe's tunes. The outfit are now ready to issue the full-meal deal.
A press release confirms that the self-titled debut will arrive September 13 via Merge Records. While a tracklisting has yet to pop up, guitarist/singer Carrie Brownstein hinted that both songs from their vinyl single (tightly wound indie rock nugget "Future Crimes" and the psychedelic stomper "Glass Tambourine") would be re-recorded for the upcoming set.
Furthermore, a brand new track called "Romance" will be unveiled tomorrow (June 18) during the first hour of WFMU DJ Terre T's radio program, The Cherry Blossom Clinic. It airs 3 to 4 p.m. EST.
On top of dropping the deets on their debut, Wild Flag have announced a fall tour. Canadian fans that won't be able to check out their two gigs at Calgary's Sled Island next week will be glad to know there are stops planned for Toronto and Montreal. Check out the full schedule below.
