The Weather Station

"Tapes"

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Apr 30, 2015

Toronto-based songwriter Tamara Lindeman is set to release her latest record as the Weather Station later this month. But before Loyalty hits shelves, she's shared a new tune titled "Tapes."

It's a slow-moving, endearingly dark number that pairs acoustic guitars and percussion with Lindeman's haunting vocals.

"Lyrically, Loyalty inverts and involutes the language of confession, of regret, of our most private and muddled mental feelings by externalizing those anxieties through exquisite observation of the things and people we accumulate, the modest meanings accreted during even our most ostensibly mundane domestic moments," the singer said in a previous statement about the new songs, which were recorded with Bahamas' Afie Jurvanen and Robbie Lackritz.

You can hear those themes woven into "Tapes," by hitting play down below. If you want to see the songs come to life on stage, check out the Weather Station's upcoming North American tour dates here.

Loyalty arrives on May 12 via Outside Music.
