The Weakerthans to Release Digital-Only Live EP

BY Greg PrattPublished Jun 17, 2009

Nerdlings, those who love nerdlings and those who want to be nerdlings, rejoice: Canuck indie darlings the Weakerthans will be releasing a digital-only live EP on June 30. The EP will be part of the iTunes Sessions series and feature five newly redone songs: three from the band's most recent album, 2007's Reunion Tour, and, curiously, two from their 1997 debut, Fallow, including the deep-cutting title track.

The EP was recorded at Metal Works in Mississauga, ON, while on the band's Rolling Tundra Revue tour with the Constantines.

The Weakerthans will hit the road (with Torontonian Jason Collett opening) after the EP's release, with only a couple Canadian dates announced so far. But considering how often this band tours, more Canuck dates are sure to be announced soon. However, considering how rarely albums come out, expect the next one in 2011 or so.

iTunes Session EP:

1. "Night Windows"
