BC-based prog-tinged indie rockers We Are the City recently announced the release of Violent, and you can stream the album in advance right here.
The new record arrives on June 4 through Hidden Pony Records and follows up the band's debut In a Quiet World and 2011's High School EP. It was recorded at Monarch Studios in Vancouver with Tom Dobrzanski (the Zolas, Said the Whale, Hey Ocean!).
According to a press release, the trio "continues to prove it is unafraid to leave open space, employ a colliding drum fill, or experiment with unlikely sounds and arrangement" on Violent. The LP boasts everything "from soaring highs and hushed comedowns, to dense syncopations going toe-to-toe with noise-soaked crescendos and delicate pop melodies."
