After a triumphant 2022, the Smile are continuing to stay in our feeds this winter. Having recently rolled out a live album and a Tiny Desk session, the trio of Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood and Tom Skinner have brought their jazz rock trio to KEXP for a live session.
For the 25-minute session, the trio tore into five tracks from last year's A Light for Attracting Attention. Following an ambient intro of bowed bass, freaky guitar echoes and free jazz drumming, the video features "A Hairdryer," "Thin Thing," "The Opposite," "You Will Never Work in Television Again" (featuring saxophonist Robert Stillman) and "Open the Floodgates." These guys seriously rule live.
Watch the session below. Exclaim! named A Light for Attracting Attention one of the best albums of 2022.
