Watch Members of Alexisonfire, Touché Amoré, Deafheaven and AFI Cover Smashing Pumpkins

Whether taking on tunes of the country's biggest, or involving some of its heaviest in the proceedings, metal talk show Two Minutes to Late Night holds the horns high for Canada, and they've now roped in Alexisonfire's Wade MacNeil for their latest star-studded cover tune.

Not unlike the treatment of Pixies' "Where Is My Mind?" with PUP's Steve Sladkowski in 2021, corpsepainted host Jordan "Gwarsenio Hall" Olds has once again assembled a more than capable crew to punk out beloved Smashing Pumpkins staple "1979."

MacNeil, who handles guitar and vocals, is joined by AFI's Hunter Burgan on bass, Deafheaven's Daniel Tracy on drums and Touché Amoré frontman Jeremy Bolm on lead vocals — the last of whom does his best "Billy Corgan in the car" in an homage to the Pumpkins' original video.

Last year, MacNeil and his Alexisonfire bandmates delivered fifth LP Otherness, which was recently named among Exclaim!'s 50 Best Albums of 2022
