During their performance last night in Manchester, Supergrass brought out a very special guest to help them perform the Smiths' classic "Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want." The group were joined by the track's very own songwriter and Smiths founding member Johnny Marr.
Supergrass frontman Gaz Coombes introduced the guitarist "the nicest fucking guy you'll ever meet," before bringing Marr on stage for a "dream" rendition of the Smiths' 1984 track.
Marr went on to trade verses with Coombes throughout the song, delivering a true-to-form cover of the beloved 1984 Smiths tune — just with a lot less Morrissey. Marr stuck around to help Supergrass out on their 1997 track "Sun Hits the Sky."
As Manchester Evening News reports, concertgoers were elated to see the rock icon hit the stage, calling the performance "an amazing surprise" and a "hard to beat" gig.
