Outside of that dance sequence from Napoleon Dynamite, it's been a while since we've heard from '90s sensations Jamiroquai. Of course, we'll always look back fondly on their once-ubiquitous hits like "Virtual Insanity" and "Cosmic Girl," which have become like time capsules for '90s acid jazz and dance pop. But even '90s nostalgia acts need to somehow pay the bills, which explains how the band got involved in a baffling new Japanese commercial for instant ramen noodles.
The 30-second clip takes a scene from Jamiroquai's iconic "Virtual Insanity" video, dubbing singer Jay Kay's voice with new lyrics about noodles. According to Exclaim!'s Japanese translator, he sings, "I'm hungry / I'm hungry / Oh Cup Noodle! / It's like I can eat five of them / I don't want other kinds / I want Cup Noodle!"
Watch the bizarre commercial below. The clip was uploaded to YouTube on May 25 and, as of press time, has already garnered over 170,000 views. Jamiroquai is back, baby!
