The riot grrrls played their first shows since 2002 last week

After 21 years, riot grrrl mainstays Bratmobile made their return with a pair of shows in California last week.

While the band were set to reunite for the first time since 2002 with an appearance at Mosswood Meltdown Festival in Oakland on Sunday (July 3), they made an early arrival Wednesday (June 28) at a secret warm-up show in L.A.

Rose Melberg of Tiger Trap joined Bratmobile's lineup, playing her own "Supreme Nothing" with them mid-set. Young punks the Linda Lindas also joined the pioneers on stage for a cover of the Runaways' "Cherry Bomb." Even more people joined in onstage for the "Cherry Bomb" cover at Mosswood Meltdown. Watch clips from both shows below.

It's been a big year for riot grrrl comebacks so far. Bikini Kill wrapped up their reunion tour earlier this year, and bandleader Kathleen Hanna's Le Tigre is touring over the summer.
