Watch Sky Ferreira Cover Lady A's "Need You Now" at Coachella

Judging by recent accounts, a Sky Ferreira show seems like a real grab-bag of potential outcomes. She might start late, she might leave early, she might not actually do all that much performing — sometimes though, it seems she delivers a real bolt of the undeniable, mercurial star power that's been keeping her afloat for the last decade.

On Coachella 2024's first Saturday, fans got that final option, as Ferreira made a surprise appearance at the beginning of Kevin Abstract's set to perform a brief, icy cover of Lady A's syrupy 2009 hit "Need You Now."

The Quadeca-produced cover is surprisingly successful, taking the country-pop balladry of the original and melting it into a haunting, synth-heavy dirge that sounds like something Ferreira might've released in 2013. It works!

Ferreira just wrapped up a European tour last week. Masochism is still nowhere to be found.
