We've been getting to know Montreal rapper Wasiu this summer through hard-hitting, confessional tracks like "Picture Imperfect" and "No Chance," and now he's making his hometown loyalty abundantly clear with "This Ain't Toronto."
Determined to differentiate himself and his music from Toronto's rap scene, "This Ain't Toronto" is a declaration of hometown pride and proof that there's plenty of hip-hop talent beyond the borders of the Six. And no, he doesn't know Drake.
"'This Ain't Toronto' serves as what the setting and atmosphere is of the city of Montreal, its culture, and scene," states Wasiu in the track's description. "It's a crowd filled with all different faces. What we all have in common is the French influences and that we participate in all of our backgrounds' cultures, like a melting pot."
The track is the latest single from Wasiu's EP MTLiens, which is expected to drop today (September 4). Listen to "This Ain't Toronto" in the player below.
