Voivod

War and Pain

BY Rod OrchardPublished Sep 1, 2004

Back in the ’80s, Voivod were the kings of Canadian metal. War and Pain came out and fans couldn’t get enough of Quebec’s finest, with their silly stage names like Away, Snake, Blacky and Piggy. Yes, Piggy. But despite their ridiculous names, bad fashion and Snake’s poor English, they were awesome. "Suck Your Bone,” for example, is a song about a snow blower?! Tabarnaque! And now, some 20 years later, Metal Blade is smart enough to re-master this, add some cool extras, like live demos, video clips, liner notes and a coupon for five dollars off your next jester hat. A Canadian classic that no metal kid should be without! Thank you Metal Blade!
