Vladislav Delay As Sistol

Remasters & Remakes

BY Andrea AyottePublished Oct 4, 2010

Prolific Finnish producer Susu Ripatti (best known for his work as Vladislav Delay, Luomo and Uusitalo) returns as Sistol (one of his earliest monikers) on Phthalo's new sub-label, Halo Cyan. Whether it's fracturing abstract grooves as Vladislav Delay or his organic house productions as Luomo, Ripatti aliases never venture far from his uniquely distinct, recognizable sound. Remasters & Remakers revisits Ripatti's earliest Sistol album by delivering an enhanced and improved reissue. Ripatti has completely remastered his original self-titled release from 1999 and has also included two new tracks that were produced around the same time period. The second disc includes 11 stunning remixes. Raster Noton's Alva Noto (aka Carsten Nicolai) delivers a clean, minimal, rhythmically glitchy rendition of "Hac." California-based electronic artist John Tejada and quirky techno producer [a]pendics.shuffle produce infectious techno dance floor tracks. FaltyDL (aka Drew Lustman) makes a funky, euphoric house rendition of "Kotka." Remasters & Remakers is just another reminder of Ripatti's timeless mastery as an artist.
