A DVD that employs all the usual Metal Mind visual tricks (huge sweeping angles, bad interviews), the main draw here is the diversity: this fest brought together the best of death metal (Entombed, Vital Remains, Zyklon), thrash (Testament, Destruction), trad (Blaze Bayley), goofy (Korpilkaani) and, uh, other (Paradise Lost). The CD focuses on more obscure bands, a nice touch, although, man, if you need me I’ll be cranking Testament’s raging performance of one of the most underrated metal songs of the past 20 years, "Electric Crown.” Quality stuff, and with a handful of songs from each band this is a great way to check out some new metal.
