Last week, Vancouver's Crystal Dorval gave us a preview of her experimental Christmas compilation Whiteout via a dream-pop makeover of Wham!'s "Last Christmas, " courtesy of her White Poppy project. You can now sample the entirety of the compilation for free.
Dorval had previously described the set as "a collection of experimental, psych and weirdo covers of winter holiday songs," and that's pretty well what you get here. Some of the highlights include the chilly ambient tones of S. Gailey's "White Christmas," Virgin Blood and Elemental's lo-fi electro-pop take on "Blue Christmas" and Waters' bleak organ and vocal drone interpretation of "We Three Kings."
