Just over a month after announcing an effort to save their long-running fest, organizers behind the Vancouver Folk Music Festival have announced plans to proceed with their 2023 event.

The 2023 Vancouver Folk Music Festival takes place July 14 to 16 in Jericho Beach Park. The lineup for the fest's 46th edition has yet to be announced.

Following January reports that their 2023 festival was cancelled, and was at risk of never returning, organizers now share, "Our plan is to use the 2022 festival as a template for this year's festival. We are working with contractors, artistic advisors, and vendors to make that happen."

"In the past month new funders have come forward with substantial offers to help the festival happen this year. In addition, we have had an outpouring of volunteer support to assist in many aspects of getting the festival organized and launched," organizers write.

"With hard work, the financial picture is more secure and, with other individuals stepping up to support the festival now, we will make it happen. We know that our members and audience are the heartbeat of the festival. Your outpouring of support over the last few months has given us the courage and strength to move ahead."

Founded in 1978, the Vancouver Folk Music Festival has welcomed concertgoers to the city's Jericho Beach Park for over four decades.

After two years off due to the pandemic, the festival faced increased costs upon its 2022 return, with the board estimating a total cost of $500,000 per year to continue running the event.
