Kicking off the Saturday night (April 27) Flourish schedule at Fredericton's legendary Capital Complex was Valerie, who emerged from Nova Scotia for a rare performance ahead of their debut album. The band conjured a wall of dreamy, reverb-drenched noise from the get-go, overlaid with the smooth and slow-to-decay vocals of Palmer Jamieson.

Neatly tiled guitar mosaics formed a shoegaze glow around him on set-opener "Twin Flames," the new single from Valerie's forthcoming record, expected later this year. "Gold Ribbon" found the band's lockstep rhythm section bolstering textural leads in a driving verse, before giving way to post-rock guitarmonies and an echoing chorus of "Would you save it all?"
