Vader

Litany

The Florida death metal genre wore itself out before I had a chance to check out these Polish party animals, but I'm pleasantly surprised. The disc clocks in at 30 minutes, which is perfect for this type of punishing metal, and I wish more bands would follow Vader's lead. The songs are fast death metal, sounding like all the Morrisound biggies, but rawer, with more emotion and energy. The production is annoying (making the drums sound like a drum machine is a bad idea and hard to get past), but lyrically, the boys are actually quite poetic. It's hard not to get goosebumps when Peter screams out "I just don't know why I have a pair of wings" over top of some of the better death metal I've heard in a while. Litany isn't breaking new ground in the metal world, but does a good job of creating intense death metal with some feeling behind it.
