Ending the month with one last blow to Screeching Weasel fans, the band's 25th anniversary concert series, known as Weasel Fest, has officially been cancelled. Following a recent report from the Chicago venue Reggie's that "everything is being done to ensure that it goes off as planned," the announcement came today (March 31) that the sold-out, three-day showcase has been scrapped.
Punknews points to an update on to the Weasel Fest listing on Reggie's site, which simply reads "CANCELLED - CHECK BACK FOR RE-SCHEDULE OF SOME OF THE BANDS." As previously reported, the Soviettes, Chinese Telephones, Teenage Bottlerocket and Chixdiggit all dropped off the bill.
All of this Screeching Weasel drama started at SXSW on March 18 when frontman Ben Weasel lost his marbles on stage and attacked two women. Since then, the remainder of the Screeching Weasel members sort of quit or something, with this vague statement.
