Toronto-based group Tallies have announced a new album, Patina, due out July 29 via Hand Drawn Dracula.

In anticipation, the band have released a video for their new single, "Hearts Underground," a lilting indie pop track replete with chiming guitar figures and an insistent rhythm section.

"This song is that little voice that kicks yourself," said singer Sarah Cogan said of the track in a press release. "The voice that says, 'why'd you do that?'"

Cogan continued:

In this case, it was about how it holds me back, sometimes for the better. It's about self-sabotage. Sometimes you wish this little voice would speak up sooner and not just after the fact. I wrote a song about that little voice that I've heard my whole life; it's a reflection on times when I've held back too much or when I wish I'd held back more.

Patina will be Tallies' first album since 2019's self-titled release. The album will also contain previously released singles "No Dream of Fayres" and "Wound Up Tight," among others.
