Toronto's Candle Recording is shutting down, as producer Josh Korody (Breeze) has announced that the studio will close after a run of more than 10 years.

In an Instagram post, Korody wrote, "The evil property manager/company is forcing us to sign a lease that would bring our costs to double than what we have been paying which they unfortunately are legally and cruelly allowed to do since were commercial and our lease is up."

Dylan Frankland (Tallies, Head Crack), who also works out of the space, wrote in his own Instagram post, "FUCK YOU STERLING LOFTS."

Korody noted that his studio partner, Ewan Kay, is moving to California, "so the timing just felt like the universe was really telling me it's time to let it go."

It's not all bad news: Korody, who has run Candle Recording since 2012, is close to securing a new space with Frankland starting January 1, 2023. He promises that more details are to follow.
