Exclaim! New Faves alum Nemahsis (a.k.a. GTA-raised Nemah Hasan) has shared a new single, which premiered earlier this week through an A COLORS SHOW session.

Searing piano ballad "criminal" follows the Palestinian-Canadian's debut EP eleven achers, which she released in March, featuring the powerful single "dollar signs."

"I'm a pretty closed-off person. It takes a while for me to let someone in," Hasan explained of "criminal" in a statement. "In this case, there was one that slipped through the cracks. I let them in without doing the time."

She continued, "A successful criminal will face forward their best traits, so you let your guard down and let them in. They will slowly steal from you, and before you notice, they're gone. You're left replaying every moment in your head, wondering how you missed the signs."

The studio recording underpins the silken, melancholic piano melody with solemn strings and echoey drum machines that build a surprisingly lush monument in a relatively sparse arrangement. Performing in front of a turquoise set with just a piano accompaniment in the COLORS studio, the artist's soft yet stark vocals stand out as the beating heart of the piece.

Fellow Canadians TOBi, Haviah Mighty and Adria Kain have also recently hit the COLORS studio.
