MOONRIIVR — the quartet of Wooden Sky vocalist Gavin Gardiner, Dwayne Gretzky guitarist "Champagne" James Robertson, Weather Station bassist Ben Whitely and percussionist Lyle Molzan — have announced their debut album.
The Toronto outfit will deliver Vol. 1 on November 8 via Victory Pool Music.
The 12-track Vol. 1 was recorded north of Toronto on the Robertson family farm. As previously reported, the four-piece set up shop in the garage, keeping the door open to fight the stifling July heat. Ingenious rural engineering saw the band place guitar amps in parked cars, opening and closing the vehicle doors to adjust sound leakage.
Humorously likened to "Buddy Holly meets Krautrock," MOONRIIVR's debut has already been previewed with "Midnight at the Garden Hotel," "Bachelor Nation," "The Hypnotist" and "Blonde Hair Now," all of which you can hear in the player below.
MOONRIIVR have also lined up a trio of live dates in Ontario this November, performing in Kingston and Ottawa alongside Peter Dreams before returning to Toronto for an album release show at Owls Club. Find their itinerary below.
