Toronto's El Mocambo Reopens as a Streetside Patio

Before the pandemic began, Toronto's historic El Mocambo was primed to reopen after a serious facelift. The timing of its grand reopening was unfortunately cut short when gathering restrictions began back in March 2020 — but as Ontario moves into Step 2 of its reopening roadmap this month, the venue has now adjusted to bring life to the venue once again.

As such, the Elmo has now opened its own streetside patio. Serving up an original menu from 1948, the Spadina Avenue and College Street venue's street-facing section has temporarily rebranded as the "Under the Neon Palms" patio.

"We hope to bring something really special to Toronto this summer. We wanted to celebrate our history and that we will be opening our doors again," director of operations, Alicia Hibbard, told blogTO.

The menu will feature drinks named after the Elmo's iconic performers, including "The Mick Jagger" (a margarita), "The Bono" (a mojito) and "The Blondie" (a martini), as well as charcuterie boards, sushi, oysters and other seafood.

Under the Neon Palms is open Monday to Friday from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m. ET and Saturday to Sunday from 2 p.m. to 12 a.m. ET.
