Toronto's Parts & Labour Announces Closure

BY Calum SlingerlandPublished Nov 22, 2018

Toronto restaurant/bar and live music venue Parts & Labour has announced it will be closing its doors for good come January.

Parts & Labour confirmed in an Instagram post that it will officially close come the first day of the new year, following "a final farewell" on New Year's Eve.

"It has been an honour to serve the community of Parkdale, Toronto, and those that have joined us from afar for what has been a 10 year journey," Parts & Labour wrote in a statement.

Opening in the city's West End in 2010, Parts & Labour became a staple of Parkdale dining under celebrity chef and co-owner Matty Matheson, who left the restaurant last year.

The restaurant's basement area, dubbed the Shop, has played host to the likes of Iceage, METZ, Mac DeMarco, Odonis Odonis and more. In recent years, the basement became home to a multitude of DJ nights, including Boosie Fade, Party & Bullshit, No Chill and others.

Parts & Labour is owned by the Social Group, an event planning company that also owned the now-shuttered Toronto nightclub the Hoxton.
